The Sociable Old Market Square
The new-look old market square...
Forming the heart of the City and where Robin Hood won the coveted silver arrow, the Old Market Square has recently re-opened to offer a European market space, Old Market square is now an abundance of terraces, flowerbeds and water jets and fountains where people can meet and socialise. Look out for open air events, concerts and parades as well as more conventional markets held on a regular basis.
With many bars and restaurants within a short stroll and served by many tram stops, this area offers a great start to a great night out. A must see, when visiting, is the Bell Inn, a traditional 15th Century Coaching Inn. Ask the landlord about the cave tours – which will take you back in history.
Look for the dome in the skyline, which houses the “Little John” bell and meet your friends.
